MAPLE

Last Saturday, we picked up the first addition to The Yarrostead: Maple. Maple is our 9 week old Lab, Husky, German shepherd mix. She was born and raised on a farm in the middle of nowhere Utah until she came home with us. Everyone probably thinks their dogs are special, but our girl really is! She adapted to her new environment almost instantly. Although she was never potty trained before coming home, she has never had an accident. She learned to sit in one day, learned to go to her kennel on command by day two, and was sleeping through the night by day three.

Maple loves snacks - turkey, cheese, blueberries, and plain greek yogurt. She’s a sleepy girl and takes lots of naps. Usually at the foot of the couch and under the kitchen table. She is not a fan of the car and she is terrified of the shower. At least we hope it’s the shower and not water because Noah wants her to be a swimmer like his childhood dog, a chocolate lab named Indy. Maple looks like a little baby black bear with brown on her head. And she bites like a little baby bear. We are really working on teaching her not to bite everything and everyone.

Over the weekend, we took Maple to Wallsburg for the first time. The drive up was a little bit rough since she gets horribly car sick and puked all over the jeans I was wearing. And she was a little bit nervous around the other farm animals, but thrilled to have so much open space to explore and follow us around. Seeing her so excited, happy, and entertained deepens my desire for a big plot of land. Land for a big garden, chickens, ducks, sheep, a family milk cow, and lots of space for Maple thrive in.

If it isn’t obvious enough, we are completely smitten.

Welcome to The Yarrostead Maple girl!
